Google just released an update to the New Google Sites, allowing users more freedom when creating pages.  This new update includes Vertical Grouping.  When adding Text and Images to sections on a page, you were previously forced to group items horizontally.  Now with vertical grouping, you can align items such as text and images vertically within the same section.  See the example below.

Once the items have been grouped, they can be edited as a single item, or you can double-click on the items and edit them separately.
