Start the Year with ChatGPT

If you’ve contemplated giving ChatGPT a try, but weren’t sure, take into consideration some of these suggestions for using it in the classroom.

Before getting started, you will need to go to http://chat.openai.com to create a free account. You can do so easily by using your Google Account. Once you’ve created your FREE account, all you have to do get started is type something in the chat box at the bottom of the page.

As you use ChatGPT, please remember that this is an artificial intelligence, and it may not always give you correct information. Therefore if you use it for your own classroom use, always proofread what it generates before you use it, and give your students the same instructions if they plan to use it.

If you are looking for a few ideas, give these a try:

  • Create a Lesson Plan on a specific topic
  • Generate essay prompts
  • Create a quiz
  • Unpack your learning standards
  • Build a common formative assessment to test proficiency
  • Write letters to parents

Anything that you would set out to do yourself, ChatGPT can ALMOST always complete the same task. The best use of this tool is to use it for completing common tasks listed above that will save you time. Think of the items that it generates as boilerplate information to start with, and then build upon it.
